2018 promises to be jam packed full of exciting learning and memory making!

Class 2's Dancing guys were jigging again, this time at Cheltenham Town Hall. We have also been reading to the little ones as part of Creative Curriculum which is fun because we can read silly books aswell! It was really great this week as school was CLOSED!!! The snow snowed us out of school, we had great fun playing, sledging and snowboarding. Miss Lager even took a picture of the snow where she lives. Miss Lager said she got alot of work done over the two days, YAYY!! ~ Max and Henry
In Class 2, we have been using a lot of brand new #spellingedition resources like pyramid writing and code spelling. It's in a old sweet box and we use these cards to learn our spellings. We have been using scrabble tiles, play dough and our rainbow write as part of this! We have also been filling up our ‘What Stuck? board with all of favourite weekly memories since we had to come back to school! In Maths, we have been using the bar method model just like Barvember. Mrs Morgan and Y2 helped us celebrate burns night by bringing us Haggis to try and telling us all about Robert Burns. ~ Oliver and Brooke
Our new school year has certainly begun with a BANG! We celebrated our amazing shooting star winner from last term for their fantastic behaviour and good effort. She won a whole bag of delicious sweets! In English, we have been continuing to do our Diary's of the book called 'The Promise', it is a interesting book because everything is dull but then the streets become bright. We then joined the whole school in our Fizz Pop Science taster session, Max and Henry were lucky enough to be chosen as volunteers! They had lots of fun and we did to. The Fizz Pop Science man was very funny . We had lots of laughter during Fizz Pop Science! So we said a big THANK YOU for all that laughter ! ~ Julia and Mia
In English, we will be exploring viewpoint and character and our non-fiction focus will be on the debate regarding deforestation. Meanwhile in Maths, we will be learning about fractions and decimals before progressing on to length, perimeter, time and shape. This term KS2 are focusing on geography and will be developing their key geographical skills.
The term our whole school values are 'Friendship' and 'Respect and Reverence'. This will be our focus in whole school and class worship. We will be defining what these are, how we can use these values and how they help to shape us into Godly, global citizens.
Please can you ensure that your child has their labelled PE kit in school every day, as we will be making the most of any good weather (!) and going to the field as often as we can. PE kits should contain a blue PE t-shirt, shorts, joggers, a jumper, socks and appropriate footwear.
Every morning Class 2 enjoy two different morning activities. Firstly, I have a task on the interactive whiteboard which they complete in their orange morning books. These tasks are designed to wake up their brains ready for the busy day ahead. They then progress onto their creative morning activity:
Monday: Mindful Colouring
Tuesday: Spelling spree
Wednesday: Mindful Maths
Thursday: Creative Cursive
Friday: Mindful Colouring and ‘What Stuck?’
Please join us in our class room on Friday mornings from 8:45 – 9:00 and explore our classroom. Much has changed in Class 2 since my arrival and the children are benefitting from and enjoying our vibrant displays and engaging content. Mrs Coleman and I continue to dedicate time and effort into our room to ensure that it remains an exciting and inviting learning hub!
Homework will alternate between Maths and English and will be set on a Friday to be returned the following Friday. Spellings will be sent home every Friday and tested the following Friday.
Please ensure that your child reads for at least 15 minutes every day, either to somebody else or independently. Reading records will be checked throughout the week to monitor progress.
Each member of Class 2 is given a ‘Daily Do’s’ folder in which to keep their Spelling book, reading record and reading book. These need to be brought into school every morning and return home with children at the end of the school day.
