Dear Parents/Carers
Suspicious Automated Telephone Messages
Reports have been received of individuals receiving automated telephone calls informing them that their children are absent from school and to call a premium rate 0845 number. These messages have been received by both parents with children in school and individuals who do not have school age children. Please note that Longborough C of E Primary School would never leave an automated message and ask you to call a premium rate number.
If your child is absent from school may I remind you of our absence procedure. Parents/carers are required to -
Ring school on the first morning of every absence to state the reason for the absence and the date the child is expected to return to school.
Keep school updated by telephone or letter if your child has an extended period of absence due to illness.
Message From Gloucestershire County Council - School Lunch Price Increase
In accordance with the County Catering Contract, the price of a paid school meal will increase to £2.28 from Monday April 24th 2017.
The County Council are reluctant to increase the price which has remained at £2.20 since 2013. However, the cost of labour has increased following the introduction of the National Living Wage and there have also been large increases in the costs of food, materials and transport during the last twelve months.
We have managed to absorb the increasing costs of the service during the last four years with a number of efficiencies in operation. The service has also benefitted from a long period of food cost deflation prior to 2017.
We will continue to provide fresh, home cooked nutritious school lunches to the Food For Life Gold Standard and are disappointed that we have had to pass on the increase in cost on this occasion.

Dear Parents/Carers
Internet Safety
We have received information from the police regarding a popular on line App called MYLOL.
There are concerns that the App, which encourages children to upload images for people they don’t know and vice versa, is being used by sinister predators. Without making the App an item of curiosity for young people it would be good to talk to them about this and block the App where possible.

Dear Parents/Carers
Parents Evening
This term's parents evening will be split over two days which are Monday 13th March from 3.30pm - 5.30pm and Tuesday 14th March 5pm - 7pm. Each appointment will last 10 minutes to help keep to our schedule and avoid delays. If more time is required to discuss your child’s progress, then we will schedule an appointment for a later date. We will notify you when the sheet is available to book your appointment.
P.E
Please could we ask that jogging bottoms, a sweatshirt, gloves and a hat are provided for P.E as we will be having our lessons outdoors and it is still particularly chilly. Please could you also ensure P.E bags are brought to school on a Monday, kept at school all week and collected on a Friday.
Lunch Orders
If your child usually has or would like to have a school lunch they will now be able to place their order in the class at registration. The children will be informed of the choices and asked what they would like to order and they will then be given a wrist band corresponding to their choice. As always, we encourage the use of Parent Pay to pay for school lunches but if you do require to pay in cash this can still be done through the school admin office. If you would like to view the current school lunch menu, a copy can be found in the reception area or on our website.
Water Bottles
Please could we remind parents/carers that water bottles brought into school should ONLY contain water and not juice, squash or milk.
Attendance/Punctuality
The responsibility for promoting good attendance and punctuality is shared by all staff, governors, parents/carers and the pupil. As a school we aim to maintain a MINIMUM attendance rate of 96% and we aim to promote parents’ and pupils’ awareness of the importance of regular attendance.
Importance of Regular Attendance
Importance of Punctuality
Please ensure that your child arrives in school by 8.55am at the latest as this is when registration takes place. If a child is late for school, parents/carers are asked to accompany their child to the school office to register their arrival in the ‘signing in book’ citing the reason for their lateness. Please contact the school if you are experiencing difficulty with attendance/punctuality so that any available help or support may be offered.
Details of our school Attendance Policy can be found on our website or in the school office. This is currently being updated.

Dear Parents/Carers
At the end of school today we have a few items that we would really like to sell and I’m sure your houses would look even nicer with them in, so please bring your coins and get those last minute bargains.
I’ve attached the lunch menu for next year. I will stick to the same orders as this term, i.e. for those children who have a meal on one or two days a week I will stick to those days, all week will remain all week and unless I hear otherwise, I will order the main meal with the main dessert.
Please can I also take this opportunity to remind you of the school times. The school opens at 8.45am, all children are to be here for 8.55am when registration closes and lessons start promptly at 9am. If your child is late we do need to ask for a reason for our records, please don’t be offended if you are approached.
On your first day back please come in and say hello to our new Administrator Charlotte Kay. Charlotte will be working here and at Cold Aston and has recently spent some time at both schools.
