Class 4

Welcome to Summer Term in Class 4!

It is great to be back in school for the Summer Term. We have so much to look forward to. Our big question this term is:

The Victorian Era: Dark Age or Golden Age?

Through our learning in different areas of the curriculum we will explore this period in British history. We also have many exciting sports events to look forward to as clubs restart and outdoor events can begin to resume. And of course, we have RESIDENTIAL which we are all very exited about.

Our value this term is:

We look forward to hearing about how the children have been demonstrating this value out of school as you share this with us on our Value Postcards!

Keep watching here for updates on activities we are doing in class!

Reading: Children are asked to read for 10 to 15 minutes everyday. This can be alone, to an adult or read to by an adult who discusses the text with them. Their reading records should be updated on a daily basis with meaningful comments (from the children) about what they have been reading. These books are checked weekly and are expected to be in school everyday. Please keep them in school bags!

NEW! Each term the children will be given a 'Knowledge Organiser' for their learning in Science. These contain key vocabulary and concepts that will help the children learn in Science. Some weeks they may be set homework to memorise certain vocabulary, diagrams or concepts. Other 'Knowledge Organisers' may be sent with the children as reference to support their learning at home or if they are keen - to learn. The Science one will be the one prioritised for homework.

Spellings: Each week children are set their spelling homework on a Monday to be completed and returned to school on Friday morning, ready for the spelling test. They should use the 'Look, Say, Cover, Write' method to practice their spellings each day. Completed spelling work should be uploaded onto TEAMS.

English: Every other week the children will be set an English task. The task will be set on a Monday. Completed homework should be uploaded onto TEAMS.

Maths: Every other week the children will be assigned activities to complete on Mathletics. The work will be set on a Monday to be completed by the following Monday.
